Following on from my previous article, what better way to record an idea than by ‘Point and Shoot’. My faithful digital camera has caught a moment in time. I have been putting together some small pieces and recorded this possible work in progress for all to see. Hope you like the concept. It is taking the form of a photo and may never make it to the gallery. Remember, you saw it here first!!

Vidya, would you say your work was Modernist?

Yes, I am a Modernist, although this is the first time it has officially gone on the record. I follow in the tradition of Abstract Expressionism as first seen in post-war America and am also moulded by my Britishness but confused by a diverse cultural heritage. I have been asked recently whether I’d be interested to explore my heritage through the art. I think this is a fascinating idea but am approaching any conclusions with caution. It can be difficult to contain the ideas that ensure when exploring one’s background and it is therefore not the subject of my work.
